In 2009 I received the Civilian Fire Chief Award for my coverage of the Elgin Fire Department

In 2009, he received the Civilian Fire Chief’s Award from the City of Elgin’s Fire Department for his outstanding coverage of the bravery of the Elgin Fire Department’s firefighters in action.

He also in 2009, won the IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) Media Award taking First Place for Best Fire Service Photos Published on a News Based Website, putting his Fire Photography on the International stage.

His photos have also been front page of  local newspapers (Daily Herald and Courier News) many times as well as his videos being featured on NBC Chicago’s Channel 5 News, and was once described by an area  firefighter as “someone who truly has their finger on the pulse of the community!”

An injury from a motorcycle accident in August of 2000 has curbed his current activity with local news and events, but he’s still out there with his camera, when able.

In 2014, he has stepped up the plate with technology and incorporated the use of an aerial platform for his photos.  While this technology is new, the perspective from a bird’s point of view is certainly captivating adding a whole new look to the City of Elgin and the surrounding area.
